Song: ‘Runaway’ – Mat Kearney
Alright, alright, alright! It’s finally here! Back in late Jan/early Feb, my friend Sami and I went to Iceland and had THE BEST 5 days together. It’s taken us a couple of months to be able to exchange some of our videos internationally, but we finally got through the technical difficulties that is the world wide web and although I wasn’t able to get good footage of the Northern Lights that we saw, I’m still so excited to share with you all the final result of the rest of our trip. All you need to take away from this quick video is how much fun we had exploring some of the most amazing locations around Reykjavik, Iceland.
Sami and I discussed how we would have loved more time to explore the island. Taking 5 days together just wasn’t enough to see all of the many beautifully unique and well known sights that Iceland has to offer, but doing a few of the main attractions, as well as some off the beaten track are worth it with limited time.
If the winter is anything to go by, then I can only imagine what it would be like to see the greener side of things and experience the country for all its worth in the summertime, including doing a few of the hiking trails. If you have the option (and money) to spend a couple of weeks in Iceland, then definitely DO IT and hire a car! Now that Iceland has become such a popular tourist destination over the past couple of years, now is a good time to get there before it’s too commercialised and things become roped off from entering.
Lastly, I want to dedicate this video to Sami. She has been the truest friend I could possibly have whilst living abroad. No matter what, Sami is always there with her supportive and understanding nature, providing the right words to fix any situation. This song was specifically chosen as it means a lot to her and has quickly become one of my personal favourites as well.
Sami, you are the brightest light. I wish we weren’t separated by oceans, but I’m sure there will be many more countries and duo videos to come.
