Whilst in Paris I have been fortunate to stay with my friend Charles as his gorgeous house in the 17th district. This is just out of central Paris, but close enough to get to where you need in 10-15 minutes.
My only request whilst staying with him was to visit a restaurant serving tradition home cooked French cuisine and Charles definitely didn’t disappoint!
If you go anywhere for breakfast, lunch or dinner in Paris, make at least one of your pit stops at Le Club Des 5. There are three located around the city, but we went to the one located at 57 Rue des Batignolles 75017 Paris. The closest metro stops are Fourche (light blue line) or Rome (blue line).
Everything about this place is amazing! From the food, to the 80s/90s throwbacks covering the walls, to the friendly waitstaff. I devoured the duck with honey and orange sauce and a side of mashed potato and carrot, but watching all the other dishes come out I had some serious food envy for the Chicken Cordon Bleu!
Dessert is always my favourite meal of the day, but I went for the less traditional lime cheesecake with berry compote and Charles had the far more traditional creme brûlée with rhubarb. It’s safe to say by the end we were stuffed!
My favourite part of the cafe was the decor. The bathroom was covered with family pictures from the owners, but Charles and I were talking for ages about the different cartoons we watched as kids and the books, movies and celebrities we grew up with from all the collage designs on the cafe walls.
Le Club Des 5 is the perfect place to go for comfort food, so if you’re wanting great food for a reasonable price (or just looking to get free Lollies after your meal!) make some time for this lovely cafe.
