I have been lucky enough to see many places and things that make me exclaim “Wow!” or have me smiling for hours, but it is the rare few that leave me speechless and gobsmacked. The work of Antoni Gaudi for Park Güell was one of those occasions.
If you haven’t realised yet by my blog or Instagram, @love_from_leah, I am obsessed with colour and Park Güell has now quickly become one of my favourite places in the world. The painstaking detail within each individually tiled piece of a wall or ceiling is incredible, not to mention to stone work created for infrastructures across the entire park and views of the city are unlike no other.
Although Park Güell is located out of central Barcelona it is worth the well signed trek to see its beauty. The entrance to the park is free and you can roam endlessly up hills and throughout many of Gaudi’s designs, but there are a few key areas that require payment, and the Monumental Zone is one that shouldn’t be missed!
I suggest purchasing your ticket in advance online for your preferred time slot as often when arriving and enquiring the tickets are already sold out for the day. You don’t want to be disappointed by not seeing the designs, architecture and Gaudi’s dragon up close and personal. By pre-purchasing you also pay a lower value for your ticket of only €7. What a steal!
I will forever be daydreaming about Park Güell and jealous of what it would have been like to be Antoni Gaudi living in his home on these grounds. If you are to do anything in Barcelona, this should be on the top of your list!
